Mental health is essential to personal well-being, family and interpersonal relationships, and the ability to contribute to community or society. Mental disorders are among the most common causes of disability in the U.S. Substance abuse also has a major impact on individuals, families, and communities. The effects of substance abuse are cumulative, significantly contributing to costly social, physical, mental, and public health problems.

Join the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) on February 26th at 12:30 PM ET for a Healthy People 2020 Progress Review featuring the Mental Health and Mental Disorders and Substance Abuse topic areas. Progress Review webinars are focused on tracking and measuring the progress of select Healthy People 2020 objectives.
