The State of the Leading Health Indicators Webinar: Progress to Date
Start Date: April 08, 2014
End Date: April 08, 2014
Tuesday, April 8, at 2 p.m. EDT
Join the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the American Public Health Association (APHA) as they explore the progress made to date on the Leading Health Indicators (LHIs). The LHIs are a key component of the Healthy People 2020 initiative. As a small set of high-priority health issues, the LHIs are recognized as major influences or threats on the public’s health. If addressed appropriately, attention to these issues can reduce the leading causes of preventable deaths and illnesses. The newly developed LHI Progress Report examines both the progress we have made within each of these indicators and the challenges remain.
Learn about the results to date within the Leading Health Indicators. We will also hear from a state agency that has thoughtfully incorporated the LHIs into its state health improvement plan. This 45-minute webinar is co-sponsored by the HHS and APHA. The webinar will be led by the Assistant Secretary for Health, Dr. Howard Koh, and the Executive Director of APHA, Dr. Georges Benjamin. The webinar will include a roundtable discussion on the progress of the LHIs and the efforts underway for further improvement.
