Healthy Places, Healthy People: A Progress Review Webinar on Nutrition and Weight Status & Physical Activity

Overall Purpose:
Americans who combine a nutrient dense diet of fruits, vegetables and whole grains with regular physical activity decrease their risk for chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers. Place matters as healthy environments and healthy communities ultimately contribute to healthy people.
Please join us on Friday, May 9 at 12:30 PM ET for a Healthy People 2020 Progress Review featuring Nutrition and Weight Status & Physical Activity topic areas. Progress Reviews are focused on tracking and measuring the progress select of Healthy People 2020 objectives.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the importance of Nutrition and Weight Status & Physical Activity and its implication to the health of our Nation.
  • Identify data and trends specific to Nutrition and Weight Status & Physical Activity Healthy People 2020 objectives.
  • Explain effective strategies to address Nutrition and Weight Status & Physical Activity related issues in a community clinic setting.
  • Discuss existing resources for stakeholders to use as they address Nutrition and Weight Status & Physical Activity in their communities.

How to Obtain CME/CNE/CHES Credit:
Participants must attend the entire Web conference and complete the evaluation online in order to earn credit hours and obtain a CE certificate. A link to the online evaluation system will be sent to all registered participants who attend the activity that will contain instructions and a personal ID number for access to the system. All online evaluations must be submitted by June 6, 2014 to receive continuing education credit for this activity.


Medicine (CME) Accreditation Statement
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the American Public Health Association (APHA) and the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. The APHA is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Designation Statement: The APHA designates this web-based educational activity for a maximum of 1 (one) credits AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.


Nursing (CNE) Accreditation Statement
This continuing nursing education activity was approved by APHA/PHN, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.


Health Education (CHES) Statement
The American Public Health Association is accredited by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. to sponsor continuing education for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES). This program is a designated event for the CHES to receive up to 1 (one) credit Category I CE contact hours (CHEC).


There is no involvement of commercial or sponsor support for this Web conference series.
