Mental Health in the Mainstream
Start Date: October 08, 2014
End Date: October 08, 2014
Wednesday, October 8, 2014 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM EDT
De-stigmatizing mental health requires collaboration and widespread buy-in from community groups to policymakers. We know that mental illness can affect people of any age, race, religion, or income. These illnesses are treatable and are not the result of personal weakness, lack of character, or poor upbringing. Maintaining a community and public health focus will help create a world where mental health is viewed and treated with the same gravity as physical health.
Dr. Levin will be presenting on Mental Health in the Mainstream and answering your questions regarding community mental health.
In addition, different community-based groups will share how they promote National Depression Screening Day as well as touch on last minute considerations.
Presenters include: Dr. Saul Levin, CEO and Medical Director, American Psychiatric Association
- Jane Shinn, Heartland Family Services
- Mark Bertolet, Allegheny County Department of Human Services
- Dr. Susy Francis, Cornerstone Counseling Center of Chicago
- Amanda Matthews, NEW Mental Health Connection
