December 10, 2015 - 12:00 PM EST

The ASAM National Practice Guideline for Use of Medications in the Treatment of Addiction Involving Opioid Use was developed to promote evidence-based clinical treatment of opioid use disorder and to assist physicians in the decision-making process for prescribing pharmacotherapies to patients with opioid use disorder.

A Guideline Committee comprised of ten experts from multiple disciplines, including internal medicine, addiction medicine, psychiatry, pain medicine and obstetrics/gynecology, reviewed treatment scenarios and assisted in the development and writing of the guideline.
