Integration of Behavioral Health into Pediatric Primary Care Settings

The integration of behavioral health services into pediatric primary care settings is one of the five core strategies that Project LAUNCH grantees are implementing to advance health promotion and illness prevention among children and families. This issue brief reviews findings from the Project LAUNCH grantee evaluations, highlighting the promising approaches to behavioral health integration among the Project LAUNCH grantees and the impact of these efforts, including increased screening and early referrals from primary care providers and improved social-emotional functioning among children. This issue brief also examines common lessons from the grantees that can promote the successful integration of behavioral health in primary care, in addition to mechanisms for sustaining and spreading these efforts.
